  • The Greater First Baptist Church Family is celebrating the 13th Pastoral Anniversary of Pastor Dr. Winston C. Ridley, Jr. and First Lady Bonita L. Ridley on Sunday, May 18, 2014, at the 11:00 A.M. morning service. The Guest Speaker for the service is Rev. Patrick J. Walker of the New Macedonia Baptist Church of Washington, D.C. A celebratory reception will be held immediately following the morning service. Come shower our Pastor and First Lady with love and appreciation!


  • Pass the Word...The Greater First Baptist Church 136th Anniversary on Sunday, May 25, 2014 during the morning service at 11:00 A.M. Guest Speaker: Rev. L.K. Floyd.





  • From the Scholarship Ministry - If you are graduating from High School or graduating from College in 2014, please submit your name to the office as soon as possible. You may leave your name in the office mailbox or notify the office via e-mail on Trustee Karen Freeman, Chairperson of the Scholarship Ministry.


  • If you are in need of prayer on a personal level; members of the I.P.M. Team will be positioned at the alter each Sunday at the conclusion of our morning service, to agree with you in prayer. Stay encouraged! Sister Lisa Turner, Director.


  • Parking is now available at Carlos Rosario School on each Sunday. The lot is available from 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM and is monitored by security. There will be shuttle buses that will transport members to and from the church.


  • We need your help! The Birthday Board in the Vestibule is used to display Photos of the "GFBC Birthday Saints" each month. However, it is time to update the photos! Deacon John Richardson will be available to take new photos at the end of the 11:00 A.M. service. If you would like to submit a suitable updated photo, please see Sister Liz Queen. You may also leave a photo in the office mailbox. Please print your name and birth month on the back of your photo. Thanks in advance for your assistance.


  • The Transportation Ministry is in search of a driver for Sunday Services and outside church sponsored events. If you or someone you know may be interested, please contact Sister Norma Hood. CDL is desired, but not required.


  • The Mary E. Peyton Nurse's Ministry is looking for a few good men and women! No formal medical training required. CPR and First Aid Training available. The Mary E. Peyton's Nurse's Ministry meets the 3rd Saturday of each month at 12 noon. To join the Ministry, please call Sister Bernice Brooks, RN, President.


  • The Trustee Ministry is looking for a few good men and women. If you are a carpenter, contractor, painter, plumber, electrician, or if you can use a broom, the Trustees need your help with the renovation of the church parsonage. If you are interested, please submit to the church office, in writing, your name, contact information and what services you can render.

  • If you are interested in riding on the church bus for Sunday services, please notify Sister Bessie Lampkins or Sister Beverly Wallace of the Transportation Ministry.


  • ATTENTION ALL MEMBERS - If you have moved within the last six months and have not provided the office with your new address and phone number, please do so.


  • The Music Ministry Needs You! Are you a new (or old) member of Greater First? All of the choirs are in need of COMMITTED and DEDICATED singers. Seats in each choir are available just for you.


  • Bring Your Child to Sunday School. The Nursery Department of the Sunday School has plenty of space and a well-trained, loving staff, to teach and care for infants to three years of age.
